What to press and when. Short, with the app’s own screens.
Applies to version 3.85 in the Connect IQ Store.
01Before you ride

02Buttons

- LIGHT backlight, no role in the app
- UP · MENU previous screen; hold: menu
- DOWN next screen
- START · STOP start, pause, “yes”
- BACK · LAP end the run, menu, “cancel”
- Questions on screen: START is “yes”, BACK is “cancel”.
- Touchscreen: on a Venu you change screens by swiping; on other watches unlock touch in the menu with “Touch”. Venu 4: a long press on the screen opens the menu.
- Edge: START and LAP are separate keys, BACK opens the menu, swipe to change screens.
03A day in the bikepark: PARK mode
The default mode. The app splits the day into runs and lifts on its own. You just ride.
- A run counts from the first metres downhill.
- Queue and boarding: after a stop, a slow and steady climb is DETECTING LIFT, with no recording.
- The lift after about 25 m up: the run goes to the history, the watch vibrates, the run card shows for 15 s.
- At the top the next run opens by itself once you head down.
A stop longer than 30 s pauses the recording; it comes back by itself when you move.
End a run by hand, e.g. before the queue:
Automatic detection got it wrong (a shuttle instead of a chair)? The menu, and in it:
Pause for lunch and back:

04Trail days: TRAIL mode
For days without a lift: the whole ride counts as riding, uphill included. You change the mode in Settings outside a session or in Garmin Connect.
A shuttle up the hill? Mark it like a lift and go back to automatic when you get off:
05Screens and fields
Nine screens, UP and DOWN switch between them. Which ones show and in what order is set in the “Data screens” menu or in Garmin Connect, where you also pick the layout and fields: seven layouts, 39 fields.

06After the ride
Saving: START pauses the session, BACK while paused opens the menu, START confirms. The menu also opens any time with a held UP.
- Garmin Connect: a Cycling / Downhill activity, every run is a lap, and the Connect IQ section holds the app’s fields: runs, lifts, times, descent, speed, heart rate.
- Watch: menu → “Last session” and “Run history”.

07Trial and licence
08When something is off
- FINDING GPS stays on: step out from under the roof and give it a minute. The session is already on.
- Lift not detected: detection relies on the barometer, so watches without one (e.g. vívoactive 5 and 6) are out; the list is here. On a slow lift lower the “Lift detection” threshold (25 m by default). Right now: menu → “Force lift”.
- A run split in two: the trail has longer climbs, raise the “Lift detection” threshold.
- “Trial over”: both trial days are used. Buy the full version and enter the code from the e-mail, as in the chapter above.
- Something else? Write to us with the watch model and the ID from the Licence screen.
